We are Grassroots Sports & Sustainability State Finalists!

We are thrilled to announce that our Club has been named a finalist in the prestigious Clubs NSW Awards for Sustainability and Fostering of Grassroots sports. This recognition comes as a testament to our commitment to making a positive impact in our community and environment.

One of our key initiatives that contributed to this achievement is our innovative approach to repurposing old uniforms. Instead of discarding our outdated apparel, we’ve transformed them into warm, durable blankets. These have been donated to local shelters, providing comfort to those in need during the colder months. This initiative not only reduces waste but also supports vulnerable populations in our community. We partnered with Belmont born charity Warm Blankets for Everyone ( WBFE ) in this initiative and are thrilled to have started a trend with now other Hunter Region organisations repurposing their appropriate uniforms!

Additionally, our commitment to sustainability extends to nurturing the next generation of sailors through our “Tackers” learn to sail program. This initiative fosters a love for sailing among young people while instilling a deep respect for marine environments. Our tackers growth has been unprecedented in the history of our Club in both size and increasing conversion of young sailors moving up consitently through these learning levels and into a more serious junior sailing capacity.

Being recognised as finalists for these award motivates us to continue our work and explore new ways to contribute positively to our planet, Club and our people.

We look forward to the awards ceremony and are hopeful for a favorable outcome. Regardless of the result, we are proud of our team’s hard work and dedication to making a difference.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our initiatives. Let’s keep sailing towards a sustainable future together!
