SheSails at Belmont 16s Sailing Club

SheSails is an Australian Sailing initiative that celebrates the incredible women who contribute to our sport and inspires more girls and women to discover the joy of sailing. At Belmont 16s Sailing Club on beautiful Lake Macquarie, we’re proud to support this movement by providing a welcoming, fun and safe environment for women of all ages to get involved in sailing; whether you’re stepping on a boat for the first time or growing your skills on the water.

To show our commitment, we have dedicated SheSails representatives on our Sailing Committee, ensuring strong pathways for development and recognition across our entire fleet.

Our Vision

SheSails at Belmont 16s aims to boost female participation across every part of our sailing program – from junior classes to senior fleets and social sailing. Our goal is to bring the Lake Macquarie sailing community together to create an inclusive space where women and girls feel supported, confident and excited to be on the water.
We want every sailor, no matter their experience, to enjoy the freedom, challenge and fun that sailing brings.

Our Purpose

The SheSails Committee is focused on:

• Growing female membership and participation in sailing at every level – junior, youth, senior and social.
• Providing support, mentorship and resources to help women and girls build skills and enjoy their time on the water.
• Creating programs and events designed specifically to encourage women’s involvement in sailing and club life.
• Developing leadership pathways for female sailors, volunteers and officials within our club and the wider Lake Macquarie sailing community.
